HST is Almost Here

You would have to be living under a rock to not know that the HST is about to come into effect. When we are celebrating Canada Day this year, we will also be living our first day with the HST. I won’t go on and on about the HST because I already did a post on my own blog detailing my perspective, but I would like to make a quick list here and post a link for all of you who are not aware of all the things that will now be costing more with the HST.

You will now pay more for the following:

  • Basic cable.
  • Most school supplies.
  • Local phone service.
  • Adult sized kids clothing.
  • Used adult clothing.
  • Camping.
  • Sporting Events.
  • Movie Tickets.
  • Live concerts, live theatre & live dance performances.
  • Admission to art galleries and museums.
  • Massage Therapy, over-the-counter medications, vitamins.
  • Any physical lessons for your kids (ballet, karate, swimming, gymnastics).
  • Summer camps.
  • Eating out.
  • Safety helmets for sports
  • Funeral services.
  • Domestic air, bus and train service.
  • Veterinary services.

And the list goes on and on. But the good news is, alcohol will now cost less! So if you can’t afford to do constructive activities as a family you can at least get drunk for cheaper!!

Happy Canada Day BC… our should I say Happy HST Day!!!

Liberals are ridiculous. This is the the same political party that years back was against the Universal Child tax benefit in the federal election because we parents would apparently spend it on beer and popcorn. So they’re taxing everything more and making beer cheaper??? I guess they just want people to drink more beer so they aren’t coherent enough to understand they’re being screwed.
On another ironic note BC is proud to announce that they now have the stiffest penalties for drinking and driving of all the provinces. I wonder if good old Gordo had anything to say about that.
