A little science experiment for kids

by Mommy Cooks on December 19, 2009 · 0 comments

School is out and with the kids at home this week there will be times you might want to take a few minutes for yourself.   This is one little science experiment that is a favourite in our house and sure to entertain for the better part of an hour.  Who would have thought that cornstarch and water could provide an hour of play and discovery?

For this activity: Mix together cornstarch and water until cornstarch dissolves – (I use about ¼ c. cornstarch and add just a couple T. water to start – you may have to add a little more of one or the other to make the right consistency).  Pull a chair up to the sink and give them 4 or 5 dishes and a spoon.  Chillax while they experiment pouring and stirring the strange consistency.  The best part is that any mess on carpets or clothes dusts off when they are done!  Just wait for it to dry.  You can save it for later and just add water to recycle.

Hope your little monkeys are as enthralled mine!
