Childcare question

Postby jsteeves on Tue Nov 29, 2011 12:01 pm

I'm wondering if anyone has some advice or experience that they can share with respect to childcare for an infant with special needs? My newborn daughter has cystic fibrosis and I'm thinking ahead to when I have to go back to work next October. Unfortunately, staying home is not an option financially. Some complicating factors for her care are:
-My daughters requires that medications be administered with every meal
-We have to limit her exposure to respiratory infections (colds etc), so a daycare with 20 kids is probably not practical.

It seems to me that our options would be a nanny share or a SAHM who takes in another child. Does anyone know what a nanny share would cost with another family or two? Would both options charge more for dealing with her medical needs, and if so - any idea as to what I need to budget monthly for her care?

TIA!

I have no help to offer but I would suggest you cross post this with the special family section as I am sure they would be able to offer you help and point you in the right direction.
