Wow! Just found this thread now. A very interesting and relevant topic for parents of teens. I'm quite curious how you dealt with the situation?

I think I would have absolutely died of embarrassment if my Mum had talked to me about sex toys when I was 14. I agree just let that pass... knowledge is power and now you are aware... so observe and learn. If you are married, have you or your husband had a chat with him about safe sex? The suggestion to bring it up in the car is a good one - when he's relaxed and not worried.

I used to teach the darn stuff to other peoples' kids when I taught PE, but it's hard to approach your own. A friend of mine recommended a weekend course for boys to learn about respecting women.

Re the credit card, I agree that it has to be dealt with, and quickly while the bill is still outstanding. That is a trust issue between the two of you and you deserve the right to be respected.

Good luck in your discussion. Let us know how it goes. I'll be learning from you! I'm sure we'll all be there one day with our own kids for some reason or another. I don't think this is a reflection on you at all... :)
