How To Deal With Daycare Child Hitting

Postby MizJennaKH on Mon Jul 16, 2012 1:15 pm

One of the kids at daycare is hitting my child on a regular basis. This child and my child are best buddies one moment, then this child will have a moment and lash out at DD. The child will bite/slap or kick and it happens almost every day. My daughter just sits there and takes it; she doesn't hit back and she'll cry or just give a stunned look.

The daycare is trying to address it and I know the Mother tries her best, too.

I've yet to see my daughter hit anyone or be cruel - if anything she just squishes kids tight in a hug or tumbles with them (which I'm still advising her of people's personal space/boundaries).

I'm fond of this child's mother and we get along well, but I don't want my daughter thinking it's ok or normal.

Has anyone dealt with this?
