Child Mobility Cases

Postby KKO987 on Mon Mar 18, 2013 11:48 am

Hi everyone, I am in a custody/child mobility battle with my ex and we will be going to court shorty. If anyone has experienced this before, could you please tell me what to expect?

A little extra info....We were never married, just common law, he does see our child when he is here, but he is in the navy, so is away a lot. I have no support here, and find it very difficult to be a single mom in a city this expensive. He doesn't help at all with the parenting, he just hangs out with him occasionally. He doesn't want us to move though, as then he will have to put in an effort. I have a new partner that lives in AB, he works on the rigs, so not something he can do here. Maintaining 2 house holds and travel expenses is very difficult for us, so I would like to move. We have offered to pay for travel expenses, and will in no way discourage a relationship between child and dad. I'm just lost right now, and I don't know how long this will take, and if I will even be allowed to move.

Any info you can give me, would be great.

we went through this but from the other side. We didn't want the child moving. In the end he didn't. His mom needed to prove to the courts (and couldn't) that her and the child's quality of life would be better in the new city. Unfortunately for you this may be tough as you have been living here and I would assume have a job and somewhere to live. It sounds like you are wanting to move because that is where your current partner lives. of course that being said, it would also depend on how much time your child's father actually spends with him.
