hard time having a nap help....

Postby ben&meg on Mon Jan 17, 2005 1:24 pm

I have a 2 year old girl that I am having a hard time getting to take her naps and go to sleep at night. About 2 weeks ago now I decided it was time to take her soother away she only used it to sleep with and thought she was old enogh to get rid of it. Now I am wondering if I did the right thing. I have just about given it to her a couple of times this weekend just to see if it would make a difference but I don't want to have to take it away from her again later on. She does not ask for it but I wonder if it would bring her down a little faster right now it is taking about an hour for her to settle. If anyone has any advice I would like to hear it.

Thanks Kim

If she's not asking for it, I would definitely not give it back to her. You're setting up a dependency on the soother despite the fact that she seems to be withdrawing from it just fine. It may just take her a while to find another method of self-soothing, but she will! It would be a totally different story were she asking for it, but she's not, which is great!
