I remember the heartburn well. Don't have anything to eat or drink anywhere close to bed time. If you have to have some water - keep it in the fridge so the air bubbles have time to dissapate. Milk is definitely best to drink as it helps coat. Avoid peppermint as it weakens that little flap that keeps stomach acid down. Avoid tomato or other acidic products. Avoid stew or salmon. Walk lots to keep the baby from being too scrunched into your ribs. See your chiropractor.

I had terrible heartburn. The best things that helped me were tums and drinking milk.

I always found that it was worse when I started to get hungry. It never failed that I would get it when I drank any kind of carbonated beverage as well. A friend of mine had it really bad and was allowed to take Gaviscon. Check with your doctor before you try it though.

I have had massive heart burn and acid reflux with all 3 of my pregnancies, but with my first my dr told me to eat Papayas or to take the papaya enzymes, they're chewable and for some aweful reason taste like you're eating toothpaste... I hated them, but they really helped, especially if I couldn't find fresh Papaya around anywhere. With this last one, even water gives me acid reflux and I have to sleep with so many pillows piled up in our bed to keep me propped up.

i threw up daily for the last couple of months because of the heartburn. It was awful. Tums helped a bit but the ranitidine was much better. dr recommended it-safe in pregnancy.
