What do you do with all your books?

You guessed it, this is a forum all about books. What you're reading now, which ones you like, which ones you don't, and anything else to do with books.

What do you do with all your books?

Postby MarionG on Fri Aug 24, 2012 11:18 am

I seem to have accumulated a lot of books and need to do something with them. I used to think that if I kept them, I would re-read them someday. But that's just not happening. I don't think I have actually read the same book twice.

Then I think about all the money invested in the books

Perhaps a book swap is the way to go. I was thinking of inviting a bunch of my friends over and ask them to bring a few books they are willing to part with and we could all exchange among us. New books for all and no money being spent.

What do all of you do with your books once you have read them?

I don't usually buy books because I use the library pretty heavily, so when I do have a book that I won't re-read, I give it to the library.

But I like your idea too.

I usually donate all of mine to the Times Colonist book sale.

Is there a used book store nearby?? You take your books in and get a credit toward the books they have in stock!! Works well....

After I got my ereader, I sent all I had to the seniors centre for their library.

I take them to the book store at Royal Oak Shopping Centre. You get a credit on your books so that you can purchase new ones and then anything they don't want I donate to Sally Anne.

We have a couple of those around our neighbourhood. I think there is one on Orillia Street off the Gorge.

How awesome. I love it. Well right now I have soemthing going with the elementary school librarian along the lines of a book exchange. I hope it pans out. but if it doesn't then the Little Free library is such an awesome idea. All I can think is what wonderful community outreach activity.

Russell Books on Fort St will take your used books and give you store credit (or cash, but you get about twice as much if you take the store credit). I take tons of books there--- it keeps my shelves from completely overflowing and cuts down on what I spend at Munro`s and Bolen... They have a great kids`section too, if you find your kids reading hard to keep up with :)

I love those Little Free Libraries! There are 2 on Obed street and one on Dysart and one on Orillia. I usually get all my books from those bins or from people in my complex who leave them near the mail boxes. I have a whole stack to read right now. All in great shape and so far one is a great read.

I won't sell them, but maybe trade for some different ones. I find once I've read a novel I don't need to read it again. If anyone here is interested in a book exchange I'd be up for that.

We have a shelf for us to keep what we like to read. I also give it to my friends whenever they ask me for any recommendations.
