Grade 6 immunizations.. what are you getting?

Postby 3_pack_mom on Mon Sep 10, 2012 8:53 pm

I'm trying to research all 4 options, but would like to get an idea of what everyone else is getting. If you feel like explaining why/why not, I'd love to hear it!

Everything but chickenpox, since she caught that in kindergarten ;-)

I thought most babies born in 2001 had 3 does of Hep B - my older kids didn't but my younger one did.

I'm not too sure either about the HPV vacc at age 11. I'd rather that one be at an older age.

Vaccinations are given indiscriminately. There are no tests to determine which children are likely to respond adversely to vaccinations. Little concern is given to innate health and family health history.

North American children are now the most vaccinated on earth. Since 1980, Canadian vaccine schedules have more than doubled the types of vaccines given; for the first 18 months of life alone, public health authorities across Canada now recommend 32-41 (average 36) doses of thirteen to sixteen different vaccines.

Vaccine ingredients are risky. They include dangerous preservatives and adjuvants (chemicals which increase immune response) and other potentially harmful substances: aluminum phosphate, phenol (carbolic acid), MSG, formaldehyde, gelatin, etc.

Vaccinations are NOT mandatory in Canada. “Unlike some countries, immunization is not mandatory in Canada; it cannot be made mandatory because of the Canadian Constitution.

Furthermore, Canadian Medical Law clearly states that healthcare recipients must be informed of all significant risks posed by any invasive medical procedure that carries a risk of injury or death. Vaccination is such a procedure; every Canadian must have received and understood all the information that is pertinent to the vaccination(s) to which they consent.

My kids have had all their shots. I paid for my oldest to get the chicken pox vaccination before it was covered and I will pay for my son to get the HPV if it isn't covered when he gets to grade 6.

For those that think 11/12 is too young I could send you the link to a 12 year olds facebook that would make you so very sad. Some kids at 12/13 are having sex and others are into sexual touching so yes grade 6 at such a tender age is an appropriate choice to vaccinate for those things like Hep B and HPV to catch those kids before they have their first sexual encounters.

No most kids are not sexually active so young but society always works to protect the vulnerable hence the warnings on things like a hair dryer not to immerse in water. Again - it is all about choices and what works for my family might not work for someone else but I am happy to have the options.

I had a bad expereince at school as well, and think it should be done at the health unit on an idividual basis. I was terrified to get my gr 6 shots and ended up crying in the bathroom because another classmate said we had to get it done, no one was allowed to say no. I refused to come out of the bathroom (principal finally came in and got me out) and Iwas the laughing stock of my class for weeks...
for that reason alone..I would take my kids to the health unit..
just my 2 cents. :)
