"Still Alice"

Postby Sue on Thu Sep 20, 2012 7:11 am

OK, you guys :( I have been reading it, pacing myself, a chapter at a time, which I am awful at the best of times at! Then last night I hit the last 4 or 5 chapters of "Still Alice" by Lisa Genova and that was it. I sobbed my way through them all, using up so much kleenex and staying up way.too.late. Ugh. Puffy face and headache this morning but such a great book.

As the review on the back cover reads - everyone should read this book!!!

Off to take a Tylenol :)

Oh Sue, that book is next on my shelf to read. I loved Left Neglected! Thanks for the heads up about the kleenex, I'll make sure I am prepared:)

I just read her other book, "Left Neglected." Still Alice made me cry more because my grandpa had alzheimer's and maybe it was too real, but Left Neglected was a good read and kind of similar (brain injury and how that impacts life). I'd check it out if you want more from this author.

I just read that Still Alice has been made into a movie and is being released in January!! I also loved Left Neglected and her other book Love Anthony was a tear jerker as well.

This is an excellent book but yes, hard to read at times.
Every time I cannot recall something now, I think I have Alzheimers after reading that!
Such a terrible disease and the author gives us a very good look at how it impacts not only the one suffering but the family members.
Would be a great book club choice.

I didn't realize it was a book, it's my Netflix que. I may check at the library for the book first though.

I haven't read the book but I've seen the movie with Juliane Moore in it.
