Teen birthday party ideas...

Postby Sunnygirl on Sat Sep 19, 2015 5:05 pm

Ds is turning 13 ...prob last year of a "party" per se.... but we are having trouble coming up with something he wants to do and is affordable. (He has his mind set on paintball but that will really cost a lot).

He would have loved bowling...but just remembered they are closed.

I have heard the glo in dark mini golf isn't that great

In a few weeks so prob weather dependent for outdoor stuff like motorcross or wildplay.

Doesn't want to swim or skate.

What is there for young teens to do in October?

My son loves taking a few friends to a Royals game.

Surprised he even wants a party per se at 13, count yourself lucky!

What about letting him pick a few friends, take them to a movie of their choice at a theatre and then back to your place for pizza/cake/ and hanging out?

Laser tag or paintball looks to run about $20pp, I suppose movie theatre would end up being similar.

A lunch or dinner campfire at French/China Beach, where the guys can goof around in the forest or beach, play outdoor games? (heck, they could take Nerf gun stuff there too!)

Looking forward to others' suggestions as we are almost at this stage!

Oh I am lucky he is an awesome kid :D

I think with paintball you have to buy the ammo on top of the rate...so price can easily double.

I had forgotten about laser tag...we did it one year and he enjoyed it...I suspect he would love to do it again!

Laser tag is fun. Also, maybe rock climbing at either Stelly's or at Craig X would be fun for this age group I think. Good luck!

Our most popular teen birthday is to buy Nerf guns and ammo for our son and a group of friends, and just have them have a battle in the yard (or in the basement if the weather is bad). We did it with our oldest, and again with the next oldest. They run around until they are tired, then collapse in front of a DVD and eat pizza.

The friends take the guns home as party favours.

I recall he did go to a friend's climbing party and had a blast.

I suggested the nerf gun thing to him actually last week, but he does have nerf gun wars anyway with the neighbour kids and he said it frustrates him when the darts get lost...sigh... only my kid... LOL

Definitely would be more reasonable cost wise :)

Miracle Lanes in Sidney isn't a super big or wildly exciting bowling alley but they do have glow bowling on Friday and Saturday nights. They have pretty fair group rates and then you can load them up on ice cream treats afterwards at DQ?

Westshore Motocross does birthday parties too which might be fun for an older kid (http://wsmx.azurewebsites.net/Bday)

They could do a Friday/Saturday night skate with friends and pizza afterwards at your place?

I forgot about Miracles Lanes - maybe as I don't think I've ever been there.
That may be a good idea if he wants to hang out with some buddies next year.

We've booked laser tag now for this year :D
