    6- 14th Annual French Fest ( March 10th to 13th, 2011)

French Fest is the most important event of the year for Francophone identity in Victoria. This four day Festival, taking place in March, is also the SFV’s most important opportunity to promote, recruit and gather Francophone and Francophiles from all generations, cultures and ethnicities in the Greater Victoria community. In 2009, 6 000 people attended the Festival and in 2010, attendance increased to a record of 6 500 people.

French Fest now has two sites, one being outdoors at Centennial Square and the other indoors where School day programs, traditional dinners, arts fairs and some of the children’s activities take place. The French Fest program includes art exhibitions, live music, networking and partnerships. Each year, the SFV partners with the Francophone and Francophile Scouts to organize a lasagna dinner. The SFV also reserves a day to partner with school districts 61-62 and 63 for French Fest’s School Day (see program attached). The SFV reserves space for children to perform during the Festivities. In 2010, fifteen children from Victor-Brodeur School performed on stage as well as the duet Fiddling Frenzy, (two children from a French Immersion School). The Festival also contains activities for the whole family, including a kid zone at both sites.
