SAXE POINT DAY CARE PHILOSOPHY: In any day care program, the children come first – their development, (physical and intellectual), their safety and comfort. GOALS FOR EACH CHILD: • The children should be encouraged to be independent, while receiving plenty of support in their efforts. • To learn how to work within a group by accepting and feeling accepted by others. • To learn to express their feelings in a positive manner, as well as listening to other’s feelings • Socialization is an important goal, as well as learning that it is all right to be alone and/or wanting to be alone. • Muscle development is important as well. The children will be given lots of opportunity to run, jump etc. and therefore furthering their muscle development as well as their eye-hand co-ordination. • Table-play will also play an important role by allowing the children to use their imagination and begin to develop an understanding of how things work. • Play comes natural to a child and through play, he/she learns many things – following direction, thinking in an organized manner and developing physically. • Since there are many hours spent together the day care should be a warm and loving environment were the child and the parents feel comfortable in coming to daily. It is essential that the teachers be available to the parents to discuss their children; as communication is necessary and important for a better understanding of the child. The day care and staff are there to help nurture the children, so that they may become independent and caring children, respecting others and their possessions. Saxe Point Day Care has been at this location since 1971 and is a big part of the community. Meagan and Steve Brame have owned it since January 1, 1994.
